MBTI
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator: 16 cognitive-function types.
Definition
MBTI, derived from Jungian type theory, sorts cognitive preferences into 16 four-letter types (E/I, S/N, T/F, J/P). It is widely used in team-building despite ongoing debates about test-retest reliability at the type boundary; the underlying dimensions correlate with Big Five Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness.
Example
An ENTJ founder paired with an INFP designer can be highly complementary if conflict norms are explicit; left unmanaged, T/F differences create friction.
How it's measured
- •Official MBTI Form M/Q
- •16Personalities (NERIS)
- •Self-report
How EQIQs uses it
One of 21 inputs. Used as a proxy for Big Five when explicit OCEAN scores aren't provided, with dampened confidence.
