Frequently asked
What does Enneagram 1w2 mean?+
1w2 is Type 1 (The Reformer) with a 2 wing — meaning the core motivation of Type 1 is flavored by traits of Type 2. Most people lean toward one wing more strongly than the other.
What's the difference between 1w2 and 1w9?+
1w2 (The Advocate) leans crusading, warm, and missionary about doing right. 1w9 (The Idealist) leans quietly principled, philosophical, and slow to anger. Same core, very different texture.
Is 1w2 rare?+
Wing distributions vary by population. Types 6 and 9 are the most common cores in Western samples; Types 4 and 8 are the least common. EQIQs uses a multi-framework model so wing prevalence doesn't bias your compatibility score.
Who is 1w2 most compatible with?+
Compatibility depends on context (romantic vs. business vs. friendship). For pairings, see /enneagram-pair/1-and-9 and /compatibility-pairings — we publish reports for all 81 Enneagram pairs.
